Applications are invited for a Permanent post (and Panel 12 months permanent, Temporary and temporary part time) of a Senior IT Specialist, Educational Technologies Services within UCD IT Services.
UCD IT Services provides all central IT applications, support and infrastructure for staff and students throughout the University. Applications are invited for the permanent position of Senior IT Specialist within UCD IT Services. The successful appointee will work as an Educational Technologies specialist within the Customer and Academic Services group delivering projects and services related to the provision of emerging educational technologies for the university community.
The successful appointee will operate with a high degree of initiative and autonomy and will have the ability to deliver a full service, process or system to a defined audience. The position requires a high level of customer service, analytical, pedagogical and technical skills and is suitable for someone with a keen interest in building strong, collaborative relationships within the University.
Mandatory:
Experience and Qualifications 4-5 years’ professional experience working in an IT related role in either a large organisation or a third level institution and an IT related third level qualification. Functional Competencies Multimedia
– Significant ability to create suitable technical content for customers as required and to assist or train customers in creation of multimedia content including presentation, graphics, audio and video. Educational Technology
– Significant understanding of Educational Technology services such as VLE, ePortfolio, eAssessment, Virtual Classroom, Lecture Capture, and Digital Skills. Pedagogical
– Considerable knowledge, understanding and experience of applying pedagogical strategies to the creative use of technology to improve teaching and learning

Salary: 95 Programmer I_2010 (0145_X) €53,463 - €64,264 per annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
