I am Sally Murtagh, the Founder and Managing Director of Irish HomeCare. Having founded Irish HomeCare, many people ask me why I did it. I was a carer for several years and noticed Ireland was in dire need of private home care service providers. That said, my sister, Anne McShane and I recognised the opportunity to open a home care company and so went about doing so.
In 2005, Irish HomeCare was officially launched and we haven't looked back since. Over the last 12 years, we have provided top-quality care to thousands of clients and delivered award-winning training to both skilled & unskilled Care Assistants, through our sister company Healthcare Training (visit http://healthcaretraining.ie/).
Anne and I started out as carers and at heart, we still put the care of the individual first, before any business is done. After all, we are in the business of Care and understand that you, the client, comes first. When we find it hard to make decisions, we ask ourselves what is best for the client in this situation?

While speaking to clients, Carers and people in general, I get asked the same 2 questions over and over; Why I became a Carer and what do I enjoy most about my job? The reasons are simple, and stated below:
Why I became a Carer.
"In the beginning I saw it as a good job to raise my family. I was able to be there at breakfast time and homework time for them. I enjoyed the flexibility and the social interaction in my community. I soon came to appreciate how wonderful it is that senior people remain in their community as long as possible. It made me feel as if this work was really important on so many levels".
What I enjoy most about my job.
"In the last 10 years we have cared for over 6,000 people across 11 counties. What I enjoy most is working with amazing people who genuinely love the people they care for. There is no doubt that this is a challenging profession but I find it very personally fulfilling".
